Marketing and advertising are a very important part of any business – and they can be a very expensive part, as well. That is why the Chamber of Commerce is proud to offer a large number of advertising and marketing opportunities for our members, many at discounted prices and even for free.
The Quesnel & District Chamber of Commerce maintains a marketing and distribution partnership with Ron Paull Communications for the Quesnel Visitors’ and Community Guide. This guide is distributed across the province to Visitor Centres and prospective residents and visitors. It is also available as an interactive online guide at www.visitquesnel.ca. Chamber members who wish to advertise in the guide are offered discounts of $25 to $100.
Members of the Chamber of Commerce can also take advantage of free advertising in the Quesnel Visitor Centre. Every member of the Chamber is able to place a free brochure in the Visitor Centre, a service which costs non-members $100 – this means a direct recoup of your membership cost for some. These brochures are then handed out to visitors and residents who stop at the Visitor Centre, as well as sent out in relocation packages. Chamber members are also the first businesses recommend to any inquirers at the Visitor Centre.
All Chamber of Commerce members who renew before the end of April are listed in our Chamber Directory Publication. This guide is distributed through the Chamber and the Visitor Centre, as well as sent out in relocation packages and to anyone looking for community information. The Directory is also available online at www.quesnelchamber.com and is regularly updated to include all Chamber members. This forms the basis of our business referral program, in which we recommend Chamber members first and foremost to anyone inquiring about businesses in Quesnel.
We are also looking to partner with local businesses in a shared full-page ad in the 2013 Gold Rush Trail Travel Guide. For $150, you receive one of eight ads on this page in the 25,000 copies of the guide distributed throughout the province. Ad space must be booked by March 8th, so if you are interested in this opportunity, act soon. Our Chamber Manager can also provide you with information on other advertising opportunities in this publication.
The Chamber of Commerce manages the three community entrance signs in Quesnel. These signs, at the strategic locations of LeBourdais Park, the RV Sani Loop beside the Fraser River, and at the junction of Hwy 97 and Hwy 26, the Barkerville Hwy, give businesses high visibility advertising. A quarter panel at one of these locations costs only $150 for an entire year of advertising, visible to visitors and residents year round.
At the Chamber, we recognize that visitors to our community aren’t the only customers you are looking to engage. Other businesses and chamber members can represent a large part of your customer and client base. We offer a number of opportunities for you to market to this audience as well.
The Chamber of Commerce produces a monthly newsletter which we distribute to our members and other groups in the community. We are happy to include ads and events that our members send to us. We also offer member profiles in the newsletter – simply let the Chamber Manager know that you would like to have your business profiled and we will include a feature article. The Quesnel Visitor Centre also produces a weekly events newsletter, a great place to include your sales and upcoming events.
Sponsoring a luncheon is a great way to promote your business and increase your visibility in the community. The Chamber is looking for $150 sponsorships for our CEO luncheons, held once a month at the Billy Barker Casino Showroom. This sponsorship gets you advertising on all promotions of the event, the option to display a sign or banner for your business at the luncheon, two tickets to the lunch, seats at the head table with the guest speaker, and the opportunity to introduce the speaker to the audience.
We often receive requests at the Chamber from groups and businesses that have services or opportunities they would like to offer Chamber members. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to host a meeting for each interested party. This year, we are offering anyone interested in presenting to Chamber members about their services, programs, and partnerships the chance to participate in a mini trade show at this year’s AGM. Being held at the College of New Caledonia on May 15th, this trade show will provide the chance for associations, organizations, and businesses to connect with Chamber of Commerce members and tell them about the services they can offer.
